America: "I've Fallen Down and Can't Get Up"
Also in the issue: Uncle Sam and Aunt Emma • Protesters are winning • R scores rising with protests and opening up.
Uncle Sam, symbol of America, has had it. Few people are working, lots of people are sick, many are dying, police are still shooting and brutalizing Black people and other Americans, streets are flooded with protesters day after day, the sitting President wants the army to fight our own people. “This guy can’t even overthrow a medium-sized country,” Sam grumbles. “War President? Ha, I call him the Pretend President.”
The Air Force fighter jets keep crashing, a billion dollar Navy ship won’t start, his Space Force is the butt of a comedy show, and we have to beg the Russians, or a private company, to even get into space. “Not only that but the rest of the world either laughs at us or fears us. What’s this country coming to? These rich people are running the country, my country, into the ground,” growls Sam. “Not only that, but a lot of youngsters don’t even know who I am. Seems like they been shut out of politics. All of the current crop are well over 70, like Trump, Biden, Sanders and Pelosi.”
I’ve a mind to turn this symbol thing over to Emma Lazarus or Rosa Parks. Maybe they could do a better job. Just then, Barack Obama walks up. “But Sam, they’re dead,” says Obama. “Hello Barry, you really let me down. I thought you were going to fix things, but instead you let those Wall Street boys tell you what to do. For shame. Anyway, don’t mean nothin’ to be dead if your a symbol. They’re still living, in the hearts of Americans,” Sam retorted. “You know Barry, the Constitution don’t say a word about Democrats, Republicans, Wall Street, or Billionaires, for that matter. Let’s get back to We the People for a change.”

Protesters are winning
Protesters are doing a terrific job in winning supporters, fighting racism and making the whole world aware of the brutal police murder of George Floyd. Meanwhile, military leaders are separating themselves from the crazy man in the White House. The path to a better world is clearer than it has ever been. Let’s keep pushing until we have a world free of racism and white supremacy, an end to police brutality and violence, and happy lives and communities for all.

Don’t Let the Virus Win
R scores, the rate of infection, have increased in the past two weeks as less people are abiding by social distancing. Check out your state on the chart below. Next to the state’s name is listed its R scores for May 25, May 30 and June 5 (the column on the right in each group. There are 10 states that have growing numbers of infections (1.00 or higher). A total of 26 states have improved their R scores since last week while 24 states and DC are going up. Again, the country is divided in two.
