Is Ukraine Biden's Waterloo?
Joe Biden was elected President to save us from four more years of Trump. Now we need someone to save us from Biden.
In these dark days, both in the climate and politically, someone else will have to back us down from World War III. Americans are scared, growing poorer day by day, and seeing the wealth they created lining the pockets of Ukraine oligarchs. The Democrats are a Right-of-Center political party. It will only make matters worse to vote for the Republicans, who are even further to the Right. So the search begins, in our two-party state, for a mild-mannered Democrat who won’t cause too much damage.
Joe Biden has dirty hands in Ukraine, and everyone knows it:
If the Democrats have any chance of winning the presidency in 2024, they will have to put Old Joe aside. He’s already stated that he wants to run again, so it will have to be a credible excuse, probably medical problems. He turned 80 last Nov. 20 (What, no nationwide celebration?). At his age, illness is a plausible reason to step down.
The problem is Congress has appropriated more than $112 billion for Ukraine in 2022 alone. Those funds could have gone to East Palestine, Ohio, site of a toxic train wreck. It could have paid for the Medicare for All proposal. Paid young people to go to college, instead of charging them to learn. The list of needs in this country is endless. Instead it went to a corrupt administration in Kiev and in support of a war that the US played a major role in provoking, and won’t do anything to stop.
The dilemma for the Democrats is to find a credible candidate who does not have the Ukraine albatross around her/his neck. That’s just one of the reasons for eliminating the VP, Kamala Harris. It will have to be an outsider, if the people are to be fooled again.
At best, a caretaker president is what America needs. Someone who can carefully back us down from thermonuclear war, that has brought us closer to midnight than ever before on the Countdown Clock. The Bulletin of Atomic Scientists says their famous clock is only 90 seconds to midnight, which means we’re damn close to an extinction event.
A soft-spoken president could repair all the international damage caused by both Trump and Biden before we don’t have a friend left in the world. It would be important for such a president to show the Neo-conservatives, who are the elite warmongers, the door. And finally, a new president should focus on fixing all the problems we have at home, and not meddle in other countries’ affairs.
Is our next President listed below?
Who could it be? Well, there’s California Gov. Nuisance, I mean, Gov. Newsom. Senator Ron Wyden from Oregon deserves some consideration. How about an astronaut in this time of space flight? Arizona Senator Mark Kelly was one. Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth is an environmentalist, a disabled veteran and an Asian-American woman. Why aren’t kingmakers (queenmakers) beating a path to her door?
Two retread Senators from 2020, Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Cory Bush from New Jersey, are still around. Neither, as far as I know, is a Neo-con, or wants to be associated with a new war. I didn’t think much of either of them in 2020, but I’ve learned to lower my expectations.
Another Left-coaster to consider is Washington Senator Patty Murphy, whose background is as a teacher. Let’s declare war on our broken education system. She also looks something like Medea Benjamin, although that doesn’t mean she would govern like Medea. From Wisconsin comes Tammy Baldwin, a Lesbian, who would shatter one more taboo that the men who run our government would just have to live with.
Don’t neglect the governors. Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, is a multi-billionaire, whose family owns the Hyatt hotels. But he’s not known to be pro-war, and people seemed to have liked William Howard Taft, so why not?
For years, many voters, including in New York, considered Andrew Cuomo to be a “president-in-waiting.” That was until a sexual harassment scandal exploded and Cuomo resigned as governor. He was succeeded as governor by Kathy Hochul, who was not elected to the office, but probably will be. New York is a powerful state and has a big influence in national politics. After all, that’s where the money is.
How many Left coasters have their money in New York banks? Of course, you don’t think it’s just sitting there. No, it’s working hard for the benefit of the bankers and their home environment, which is New York. In addition, a little organization called the United Nations makes its home in New York City. If some powerful politician from New York wants to be president, the rest of us have to come up with some good reasons why they shouldn’t be. Like what happened to Andrew Cuomo. Rumor has it that Andrew’s father, Mario, who could have been another FDR, was told in no uncertain terms that he wouldn’t live to move into the White House. Former Governor Jesse Ventura is still willing to run, but not as a Democrat.
Perhaps, people are looking for a fresh face not involved in the dirty business of politics. That could be a TV or film star, remember Ronald Reagan? Today, it’s open to men and women personality figures. The problem is, most of the popular performers are not old enough to become president, according to the Constitution. Better go with the tried and true: Oprah Winfrey, Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie Perez, Susan Sarandon, etc. Others who have announced their candidacy, or are close to announcing, are Robert F Kennedy, Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard.
Comedians might be good candidates. They could verbally tie Trump or Desantis up in knots. There’s Jon Stewart, Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock (who has shown he can take a punch), Joe Rogan, and Jimmy Dore.
I know a writer is not supposed to say his article is giving him a headache, but this is such a rogue’s gallery. Unfortunately, as we all know, someone will be elected president. The ultimate winner may be the last president of all time, if he or she is just another puppet of the military-industrial complex.
We need someone who can stand up – not to other countries – but to the generals, the weapons manufacturers, and the other blood suckers that currently inhabit Wall Street, the Pentagon, the White House and Congress. We all need to get our act together.
Ukraine in 2015
The war actually started in 2014. It was between Ukraine, with support from NATO and the breakaway Republics of Donetsk and Luhansk, with support from Russia. In late 2021 and early 2022, things heated up as Ukraine was preparing to an all-out assault on the two Republics, while Russia was preparing an assault designed to defend them.
I truly believe that most sane people are worn out with all the usual corrupt and/or geriatric political candidates. How about a fresh & balanced Democratic/Independent ticket with Dennis Kucinich & Tulsi Gabbard??? I am really sick of all the old retreads like Dementia Joe, etc.
