"It Was Total Obliteration"
So said President Donald Trump on last June 25, after the bombing attack on Iran's nuclear facilities.
Trump was quoted by the press: “If [the strikes] would have taken two weeks, maybe. But it’s very hard to remove that kind of material—very hard and very dangerous for them to remove it. Plus they knew we were coming. And if they knew we were coming, they’re not going to be down there.”
Trump said Israel is “doing a report on it now” and that they agreed “it was total obliteration.”
Wait a minute. If Iran’s nuclear capacity was destroyed more than six months ago, then what is going on now? Ships are arriving that had been watching China from the South China Sea. Now they are off shore and coming closer to the Iran homeland. Many foreign policy and military observers expect them to begin hostile action when they’re in position.
The second attempt to bring Iran to its knees has been months in the making. First CIA operatives and pro-Shah militants were infiltrated into Tehran and other cities to forment dissent and protests among the masses. Iranians have been suffering because the U.S. imposed sanctions that negatively affected the daily lives of millions. Protests ensued for multiple days at the beginning of the year. It is unclear how many people were killed. One “neutral” estimate by UN Special Rapporteur on Iran, said that at least 5,000 civilians were killed (January 16 statement), with medical sources indicating it could reach 20,000 or more. The Iranian government said that 300 police officers were also killed. The protests subsided before Trump’s forces could get in position to begin bombing, which would have killed many more.
Many observers say that the hostility toward Iran is a direct result of Israeli pressure on the U.S. regime. Neither Iran, nor Israel seem interested in even negotiating a lessening of tensions, let alone a peace treaty.
Sanctions on Iran began and continued from 1979 to 1981. They were imposed again in 1987. The 1987 sanctions were greatly expanded in 1996. In 2006, the already stringent sanctions were amended to include nuclear weapons research. Iran says its nuclear program is for civilian purposes, including generating electricity and for medical uses. Since, according to Trump, Iran has no existing nuclear program, the sanctions should have been lifted, but they were not.
In October 2015, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) between six major countries (France, Germany, Italy, China, Russia, and the United States), and Iran agreed that Iran would halt its uranium enrichment-related and reprocessing activities.
Then Donald Trump was elected to his first term. In 2018, he took the U.S. out of the Agreement, making it null and void. Since then, the U.S. has adopted a hostile attitude toward Iran, which culminated in the bombings of Iran last June. Most countries of the world have taken a dim view of the U.S. behavior toward Iran.
Countdown to War
The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists set their nuclear-warning clock to 85 seconds before midnight on Jan 27, 2026. The clock has never been this close to midnight before now. This respected group of scientists has been monitoring the danger of nuclear war since 1947. Today, the clock is screaming out a warning that we don’t have much time before nuclear war becomes a reality.
How would war break out? When the naval armada reaches the vicinity of Iran, Trump could order bombing runs over Iran. He has stated that he does not want “boots on the ground,” in other words, Trump does not want a body count of U.S. troops that could be used against him in upcoming elections.
The U.S. could fire missiles and drones against Iranian targets, but the Iranians have targets of their own. That would include ships, up to and including aircraft carriers and guided-missile destroyers. The thought of losing the Gerald Ford or Abraham Lincoln Aircraft Carrier probably weighs heavily in the minds of the top military brass in the Pentagon, even if the President is not aware of the possibility.
The U.S. has ringed Iran with U.S. military bases. These facilities would also be targets of Iran’s missiles, drones, torpedoes, and aircraft. If Iran is able to pierce these bases defenses, Trump may find himself explaining a large body count to a distraught American public.
Of course the number one target for Iran would be the State of Israel. In the 12-day war last year, Iran found it possible, and even easy, to penetrate the so-called Golden Dome, which is supposed to shelter Israel from bombing attacks.
A war between Iran and Israel/America would have a horrific result for all concerned. We can blame Trump, Netanyahu, and the leaders of Iran, but an important factor in letting this go forward is the lack of concern by the American public. While we are focused on the Gestapo-like tactics of ICE, the anti-immigrant agency, the Epstein case, and other distractions that the White House feeds us daily, we are allowing a full-scale war to take place. If we don’t speak out, march and rally, we, the public, will be accessories before the fact. The least we can do is flood the hall of Congress and the Executive Branch with demands for peace. Better yet would be massive marches against ICE, and against War with Iran (or anyone else).

Perhaps if our country got its ass kicked good and hard, it would wake up enough people in order to save it. But we can only hope. Right now we are aligned with and led by scumbags. Lord, please help us drop the scales off of our eyes.
