Ukraine: When Our Nightmares Become Reality
The longer the war continues, the greater the chance of its going nuclear. Since the US has inserted itself with money, propaganda and, most of all, weapons, whatever happens, will happen to us.
Everyone is playing games with the survival of the Human Species
It should be obvious to most observant people that the US is the prime instigator. Before Russia crossed the border of Ukraine, Biden was also desperate for an invasion to begin.
When Russia took action, supposedly to foil an imminent invasion of the Peoples Republics of Donetsk and Luhansk, many of our neocon cold warriors were almost gleeful.
Detailed sanction documents, that must have taken months or years to construct, were trotted out. Russia responded with a well thought-out scheme to dethrone the dollar in international transactions.
Best of all, from Russia’s point of view, was a demand that purchases of gas be made in rubles. In one edict, Russia forced a division in NATO countries that required a degree of obsequiousness to the almighty ruble.
Since then, the war has been running like a well-oiled sitcom with a lot of unexpected plot twists. The only difference is this pageant includes a lot of real deaths and horrible injuries.
Nuclear Tension
From the point of view of mentally competent people, and aliens watching the show from the moon or space ship, a feeling of tension is building week after week.
Who wants to stop the carnage? Not Russia, it has a list of objectives to fulfill, including demilitarization, denazification and protection of the Peoples Republics. The US doesn’t want it to stop. If it did it wouldn’t continue pouring more and more weapons into Ukraine.
The UK leadership, especially Prime Minister Boris Johnson, seem overjoyed at the prospect of a real war, even though it’s been a long time since Britain has won anything outside of the lonely Malvinas Islands.
NATO, which didn’t have a reason in the world to exist until this war, would like it to go on forever and ever. Poland’s right wing leaders (dare I say “nationalists?”) seem to be thriving as they bring their brothers and sisters from Ukraine into their homes, while turning away all Middle Eastern refugees. It seems like only yesterday, but it was WWII, that Ukrainian Nazi and, now, national hero, Stepan Bandera and his Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN), were engaging in ethnic cleansing and murder of 100,000 Poles in Ukraine.
In any case, as time goes by, the main concern of many frightened people around the world is not who will win, but how long will this go on, and how far will it escalate. Of course, the biggest fear of all is the outbreak of nuclear war.
100 Seconds to Midnight
According to the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, their clock has been set at 100 seconds to midnight since 2020, before the unpleasantness in Ukraine began. This is the closest it’s ever been to predicting nuclear catastrophe. But what do they know, they’re only a bunch of scientists and Nobel Laureates.
We may get out of this alive, but the longer the war goes on, and the longer western countries flood Ukraine with weapons, and the more that Ukraine uses those weapons to lob bombs into Russia, the dicier it gets. The problem is that no country is actively trying to stop the madness, and the United Nations is not taken seriously (to paraphrase Stalin: How many divisions do they have?)
Aside from the random peace demonstration, there don’t seem to be massive marches anywhere. Why is that? It probably has a lot to do with the overwhelming propaganda issuing from the western countries to the effect that we need to teach Russia a lesson, that is, weaken it, and you can’t do that by making peace.
More Money for Ukraine; None for Student Debt, Child Care, med4all, etc.
More weapons to President Zelensky. Yeah, that’s the ticket. As of this writing, President Joe Biden is asking Congress for $33 Billion in Ukrainian aid. The package would include $20 Billion in military aid for this otherwise unknown country. Wow! Next thing you know they will be declaring war on the US with their super-duper war machine.
Thirty-three billion for a war we’re not even really a part of is a travesty. And, this is on top of billions we’ve been plowing into Ukraine since 2013 to sustain an illegal regime that is riddled with Nazis.
How much will Zelensky get from this newest boondoggle? When the Pandora Papers were revealed, in 2021, they showed that he, and his chief aide and the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Ivan Bakanov, operated a network of offshore companies in the British Virgin Islands, Cyprus, and Belize.
Then in March 2022, Zelensky banned the Opposition Platform for Life, that had 44 seats in Parliament, along with 10 smaller parties. But Zelensky’s corruption pales in comparison to that of his benefactor, President Joe Biden. The US Prez has pumped more money into Ukraine than into the USA.
The current corruption in Ukraine is based on too much money falling into too few hands. The illegal and violent Maidan coup, which began Nov. 21, 2013 with the support of Nazi partisans, and $5 billion from the US, according to Victoria Nuland, ultimately put actor and comedian Volodymyr Zelensky into the Ukraine presidency.
The US policy of paying off Ukraine high-rollers to act as a thorn in the side of Russia has been consistent through the past three presidencies of Obama, Trump and Biden. Those who think Trump is a maverick should dig a little deeper.
Joe Biden is not thinking about averting Nuclear War
Joe Biden has been the most enthusiastic war monger for Ukraine, perhaps due to his son Hunter’s involvement in the country. Joe prevented Hunter from having to face an honest prosecutor in Ukraine by withholding a billion dollars until the prosecutor was taken off the case.
Hunter hasn’t helped much with his antics, including losing his laptop that contained incriminating emails about the Biden family interests. The laptop was recently found in a repair shop in Delaware and has allegedly revealed Hunter’s financial backing for the “gain of function” labs that he, the Pentagon and Burisma, the company that paid Hunter a million a month to sit in on board meetings, set up in Ukraine.
The inventory of the laptop’s files has created a field day for right-wing news sources, and allegations that he was involved in setting up “gain of function” bio labs in Ukraine. The existence of the labs, although not their purpose, was revealed by Victoria Nuland in testimony before Congress.
The Danger of Nuclear War
Joe Biden, Boris Johnson or Emmanuel Macron may discover they have nothing left to bestow on Zelensky except a few nukes. At first, the exchange may be limited to the battlefield, but then it may encroach on Russia, Poland, or other NATO countries.
Then, here come the nukes. We’ll all be MAD (Mutual Assured Destruction). There are so many good targets on the Left Coast. Stay away from them.
If it is a “limited exchange,” humanity still has a chance. An unrestrained nuclear war would lead to Nuclear Winter, in which there is nothing to eat, and radiation devours our bodies. Survivors would come to envy those who died immediately. It would be the end of everything we know.
Surviving a Limited War
We all need a Plan B. Plan A, of course, is no plan at all. Just let the bombs fall. Plan B starts with the moment of impact. Don’t look at the blast. Get behind a concrete, or other dense wall. This is how some people survived Hiroshima and Nagasaki. If you have a little warning, go to your basement, if you have one. Stash some food, water and heavy clothing there, now.
If it seems that the war is building to a nuclear exchange get as far away from a potential target (military base, missile site or large city) as you can. If you have friends or relatives in the country or in a small city/village, renew your acquaintance. Ask them if you can visit, on a matter of life or death. If you don’t know anyone, camp out in the woods or rent a motel room. Stock up on canned goods and non perishables, and, yes, toilet paper.
Don’t clog the freeways and streets at the last minute. You’ll never get out of town. Don’t compete with your fellow victims, we’re all in this together.
While you’re gathering your survival gear, and checking the map, take time to contact Biden and your elected officials in Congress. Tell them there is nothing worse than this insufferable war getting out of hand. Make peace immediately.
